Descendants 2 Trailer Radio Disney Music Awards
Descendants 2 is something that just about everyone is waiting for! It speaks to a wide range of ages, in my opinion. I am a HUGE fan of the villains, always have been, and so are my daughters. They are only 4 and 5 but Descendants is something that we watch and enjoy together. We were lucky enough to see a few scenes, two music videos, and even chat with the cast and Kenny Ortega while in LA last week! There were several times while watching that I got chills, and I even teared up. I can tell already that this movie is going to be HUGE! It is going to be so good and I cannot wait to watch it with my girls!
On the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards tonight, the Descendants 2 trailer and first music video were released for all of the public to see! I have those here for you – now! Check them out below and try to tell me that you are not just as excited as I am for this one!
Ways to Be Wicked Music Video
"Ways to Be Wicked" is the high-energy pop rock anthem performed by our Villain Kids (aka the VKs) – Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Sofia Carson and Booboo Stewart – which opens the movie "Descendants 2." The song is produced by Sam Hollander and Josh Edmondson who wrote the song with Grant Michaels and Charity Daw.
Descendants 2 Trailer
In "Descendants 2," the story deepens as the Villain Kids (AKA "VKs") – Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay – continue to try to find their place in idyllic Auradon. When the pressure to be royal becomes too much for Mal, she returns to her rotten roots on the Isle of the Lost where her archenemy Uma, the daughter of Ursula, has taken her spot as self-proclaimed queen of the run-down town. Uma, still resentful over not being selected by Ben to go to Auradon Prep with the other Villain Kids, stirs her pirate gang including Captain Hook's son Harry and Gaston's son Gil, to break the barrier between the Isle of the Lost and Auradon, and unleash all the villains imprisoned on the Isle, once and for all.
OK guys, right? And Ben! Ahhh! The whole room I was in gasped when we saw that – very exciting stuff!

Chatting with the Cast
I promise you guys, I will have so much more from the cast of Descendants for you in the coming months – but since a lot of the plot points are currently embargoed (and also I hate giving spoilers) here are just a few quotes from the cast. They were all totally sweet and I just loved meeting and talking with them all. What a great group of kids!

Dove Cameron (Mal)
I absolutely loved talking with the beautiful Dove Cameron about her role as Mal in Descendants 2. The quote from her that stood out to me the most was when we asked her if she brings in her own experiences to her character of Mal.
"Mal is my ride or die. I fell in love with her when I read the script back in 2013. They didn't tell me anything – it wasn't like we are going to set up an audition – she said will you read this and tell me what you think. I had an emotional response, I was like she's my girl because I related to her so much."
Sofia Carson (Evie)
I had been lucky enough to talk with Sofia Carson before for Adventures in Babysitting so I knew this was going to be a great interview. The first thing that we asked her was how it felt to be back on the set of Descendants, and her answer made me smile.
"It was surreal. Descendants was my first movie and it changed my life. I fell in love with Evie and being able to tell her story. We have become such a family. To work with Kenny [Ortega] and everyone is always a dream. When we found out the second one was green lit, we were just beyond thrilled. The movie is so much bigger in scope, it's so epic and beautiful, and I can't wait for everyone to see it."
Cameron Boyce (Carlos)
Our first interview of the day was Cameron Boyce, who plays Carlos. I have to admit that he is one of my favorite characters from the first one. We had just seen the footage from Descendants 2 and mentioned that the set look so much bigger and more involved. We asked him what he thought about it.
"It was crazy. After the first movie, we knew we were going to do the second one. The whole time we were thinking, how are we going to top that? How are we going to write something that's more and still – better. The sets themselves are just insane in the second one. I am really excited for you guys to see it. Everyone was really committed to taking this next one to bigger and better places, and I feel like we accomplished it – especially in the pirate set. It was all green screen and through the magic of whatever they do in post-production, they made it amazing."
Booboo Stewart (Jay)
I loved Booboo Stewart in Twilight, as well as in the first Descendants film, so I was really excited to talk with him. Someone aske dhim what he would like young boys to take away from his role in Descendants 2, and his answer was great.
"I feel like this touches a lot in the first [movie], but even again in this film. Young boys are very competitive. Jay in the first film is a GUY – he wants to be the best, he's very stubborn. Just having an open mind is such a different thing for a young boy. Boys are very tough; it's such a rare thing to have. I would like it to not even be a question that you have an open mind, that should just be how it is. So Jay's kind of opening the door for people to follow."
China Anne McClain (Uma)
What we saw of the newest VK, Uma, is amazing. China Ann McClain is awesome! We asked her what it feels like to be a villain.
"It's cool to play a villian. This is my very first time I think, playing a villain. We all have those feelings inside, and you just want to unleash them on people sometimes. That is the definition of Uma's character. She has all these bottled up feelings that she randomly unleashes on people and is NOT sorry for it, at all. So it was fun playing that, she is really cool."
Tomorrow night on DWTS, the stars of Descendants 2 will perform a medley featuring "Rotten to the Core" from the first movie and the latest high-energy pop-rock anthem, "Ways to Be Wicked" from their upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie.
